Montreal did outplay NY the majority of that game - the 3rd goal was a backbreaker.
Not saying they would have won if that call hadnt been made but it could have changed the game. I agree with most of what you are saying but in this instance Mtl did outwork the Rangers and lost because they couldn't solve Lundqvist and got an unlucky call that resulted in a tough goal. |

They were given a make up call right away when Subban was "tripped"
Man...doesnt it suck when you feel your team outplayed another and still lost? |

i think that comment was misconstrued. i don't think he was referring to Montreal not getting calls, he was referring to NY getting a lucky PP in a 2-1 game and cashing in. everyone always talks about needing health and luck to make your way through the playoffs. Montreal and NY both had it in the first 2 rounds. something had to give in round 3, and it's broken NY's way. not much else was going to separate these two teams. |

NYR has still lost Brassard in the first game. We should not be worried about our goaltender for a serie against the Rangers... |

To win a hockey game, especially in the playoffs, you have to outplay the other team and find ways to solve their goaltender.
Or just to injure him. |

to MT's defense, english is his second language and his french is pretty bad, he shouldn't have included 'calls' in his sentence, should've sticked to breaks, not gonna help him get the refs sympathy |

Oh I'm not complaining about the reffing - was it a poopty call definitely but I get that happens in games - I just dont think NYR were the harder working team in this game. Full points to them for cashing in on a rookie goalie though, thats what it takes to win.
With Price in net i think the nash goal doesnt go in and who knows what happens but we're stuck without him so we gotta make the best of a poopty situation. |

Such sour grapes with this stuff already. It was a non issue from the get go except for Prust originally, then Therrien a day later had the epiphany once he knew Price was out all series that "Kreider was reckless" "he's done this before", even though prior to the Penguin series Kreider had NEVER gotten a GI penalty & the one against the Pens anyone with a brain saw Letang shove him into MAF. Its nonsense. |

Hey I'm not saying it was 100 % intentional (I still think he could have made at least an effort to get out of the way though), but regardless of the intent it still chaff to read such thing as "you have to find ways to solve their goaltender" while the Rags somehow get a free pass on that aspect. Let us grieve in peace ! |

Penalties not called are at least as bad as those called that should not have been. Instead of blaming someone else about the calls, how about the penalty kill? I think they are supposed to stop scoring chances like the one St. Louis got right in the slot. When the coach leads the entire bench in begging the officials for more power plays, you have a problem. Pierre told the television audience that is exactly what was happening on the Hab's bench in the third period last night. |

Great blog Paul. Funny this call is getting all the attention, when the most blatant missed call all night was Weaver's slew foot on Marty after the whistle. Lets say the Rangers don't get that Hagelin call, they still win 2-1. Bizarre that this one minor call is getting so much attention. |

I don't get it either, they have shown so much heart & guts in 2 Game 7 series, the Penguin one being down 3-1 in the series. Its of course mostly Henrik, but the role players are doing they're thing, Boyle, Girardi, Staal, Dom Moore & now they're stars on offense are coming out of it, Nash, St Louis. And that Kreider kid is a stud, LOVE his speed. |

Cause Lundquist and Nash haven't played this good in the playoffs for a long time, I looked at the Rangers being very similar to the Bruins is style, (only I thought that the B's were better No disrespect meant, that's why they play the games. |

Henrik has, Nash has certainly NOT had success in the playoffs in years past & until Game 1 the other day he hadn't scored this post season, insane! That's the thing, the Rangers have gotten within 2 games of the Finals with their best scorer doing JACK so far. St Louis is getting hot & like DJ said the role players are doing the job. |
